HOT AIR BALLOON & RAFTING - 1 DAY COMBO 

Start your day with a magical and exhilarating flight of your life in the world's largest commercial hot air balloon. The Atherton Tablelands provide the perfect conditions for Hot Air Ballooning and the view from your basket of rolling hills and winding streams is stunning.  Followed by a delicious champagne breakfast.

After a little rest you are now ready for an afternoon of rafting on the Barron River. Your "Rescue 3" trained guide will give you all the tuition needed for this exciting afternoon rafting, and only the worlds best rafts are used! No experience is necessary.

Early morning 30 Minute Hot Air Balloon Flight adventure:

You will arrive just in time to see the balloons beings inflated. As the sun rises your pilots gently lift off and quietly glide the balloons over the panorama of the Cairns Highlands.  20 years experience flying over the Mareeba Valley with over 300 sunny days per year.  The giant balloons accommodate up to 20 people, and glide gently over the bushlands & farms of the Mareeba Valley.

AFTERNOON BARRON RIVER RAFTING:

The half day white water rafting with Raging Thunder is on the Barron River and includes approximately 2 hours of White Water Rafting.

The Barron River is perfect for anyone who has never tried White Water Rafting or those looking for an afternoon of fun. Your guide will take you on an eco-adventure through the Barron Gorge National Park aboard your 8 person inflatable raft, tackling grade 2 and 3 rapids including the infamous Rooster Tail, where an action photo will be taken.

Plus you’ll get a chance to try raft surfing (dependent on water levels) and to cool off with a swim in Lake Placid.

The rescue 3 trained guides will give you all the tuition needed for this exciting afternoon rafting! No experience is necessary, in fact most people who book this tour have never been rafting before. Your guide will give you comprehensive safety instructions and the world's best Rafts are used.

Departs daily: 

Raging Thunder will pick you up from your accommodation at approx 4.10am for the 90 minute drive to the flight site. You will arrive just in time to see the balloons beginning to inflate.

The balloon tour returns to Cairns at 10.00am and you can expect to be back at your hotel by 10:30am.

After a break at your hotel with plenty of time to have lunch and a rest you will be picked up at around 2:00pm for the Barron River Rafting experience.


WHAT TO BRING:

Ballooning: wear comfortab
le clothing and warm clothing in winter months (White or light coloured clothing is not recommended as it is easily stained by the red volcanic soil of the Tablelands) hat, sunglasses, camera, bottle of water, snacks.  Comfortable flat shoes (no high heels)

Rafting: Lace-up shoes or reef / teva sandals (not shoes that can fall off your feet), swimming costume, change of clothes, towel, sunscreen.
Please do not wear any jewellery - it is recommended that you leave anything of value in your hotel safe for this trip.


PLEASE NOTE:

  • Not suitable for anyone who is pregnant
  • You must be able to climb in and out of the balloon basket unaided using the footholds as this is a CASA safety regulation
